Wrestle-1 4/1/15 Review

(Eat your heart out Quinten)

Well well well boys and girls guess what time it is. That's right it's Wrestle-1 time!!! Lets get started.

Match 1: Kumagoro vs Shotaro Ashino

Rookies are people too folks. If I can give one not to this match it's that Ashino really does remind me of Jun Akiyama, not just in style but looks wise too. I mean seriously you give the guy a little hair dye, have him bulk up, and change his trunk color to white and he'd be the spitting image of early sternness era Jun. But that aside, this match was perfectly passable. Kumagaro with the  Rookie Hold of Super Ultra Omega Alpha Beta DOOM! AKA a Boston Crab.

Match Grade: C

Match 2: Hiroshi Yamato, Yuske Kodama, and Rionne Fujiwara vs Hiroki Murase and Tokyo Gurentai.

Not much to this one. I see Yamato is back to being a pop signer ugh. There was also a spot where Fujiwara falls down before delivering the corner knee, I don't know if this was intentional or not, but I found it hilarious regardless.

Match Grade: C-

Match 3: Ikemen Samurai (Funaki & Kuroshio) vs Desperado (Tajiri & Doi)

This was just ok. It still amazes me how over Ikemen is, also him and Doi have some bad hair even by Japanese standards. Like I said nothing special. Ikemen wins with a roll up. Tajiri heels it up after the match with some green mist to Ikemen.

Match Grade: C-

The Cruiser matches were left of this show for some reason so up next is

Match 6: Keiji Mutoh, Yasufumi Nakanoue, and Ryota Hama vs Desperado (Kono, Sai, & Sakamoto)

You know it's bad enough that once per month I have to force myself through multiple Desperado matches, with all their bad comedy antics and constant interference but then they commit the worst sin anyone one could commit against me, they fuck with Yasufumi!! Seriously about to get his name announced kill him, enters the match kill him, hits a move kill him, tries to save his partner KILL HIM!!! But in all seriousness this match was fun. Hama wins with the Ryota Hammer aka Jackhammer.

Match Grade: C+

Mathch 7: Team 246 (c) vs New Wild Order

Friggin' awesome tag match. I never thought that I say that in a match where vehicular manslaughter is attempted (As Dusty Roads would say "He's gotta bicycle") but this was awesome. 246 and N.W.O seem to have some great chemistry with one another. 246 continues there dominance over the tag team division, I hope that they bring some outside teams to change it up, in particular the Dangan Yankees (talk about a dream match). I also feel the need to tell you this match is clipped.

Match Grade: B

Main Event: KAI vs Hideki Suzuki

So yeah KAI loses. I wish this would of gone at least ten more minutes but from what I saw it was good, even if it did start slow. After the match Hama takes offence to Suzuki congratulating KAI on a job well done, what a jerk. But in seriousness SUZUKI SUZUKI SUZUKI SUZUKI!!!  Oh yeah and KAI should of had a little bit longer of title reign.

Match Grade: Hideki Suzuki Approved/C+

Final Thoughts: It was a decent show I'm looking forward to Suzuki's title reign, even if Hama is the first challenger.

Final Show Grade: C

Til next time boys and girls, stay classy.

    Hama is the first challenger??

I suppose it's good that they at least aren't importing Grado for the task.

Nice review, brutha. Gonna check out that tag match.

  4. Some of these matches are a tad short on time it seems. Quite unusual by Japanese puroresu and W-1 standards.
