Wrestle-1 2/13/15 Review

Hama Gets The Bad Bitches. Just Thought I'd Share That.

Hello again boys and girls. Seeing as the last Wrestle-1 show put me in a near depressive state, I did the only thing any sane rational person would. WATCH MORE WRESTLE-1!!!!!!! Lets start the review shall we.

Match 1: Kumagoro vs Shotaro Ashino

This is the debut match of trainees Kumagoro & Shotaro Ashino. Both men put forth great effort and really tried to impress in this match. Ashino, who was recruited by Hiroshi Hase, seems to be the more polished of the two. He also has an amateur background so his future seems to be very bright. Kumagoro on the other hand seems like a work in progress and time will only tell if he pans out. Best of luck to both young boys on their future in pro wrestling.

Match Grade: C

Match 2: Nosawa Rongai, Hiroshi Yamato, & Rionne Fujiwara vs MAZADA, Ryota Hama & Hiroki Murase

Tokyo  Gurentai broke up, um ok. Some quick notes.

-Murase seems to get over shadowed by his counter part Inaba. But let me say this he is improving just as well and is showing just as much promise.

-Fujiwara is a huge CM Punk fan, and I mean HUGE CM PUNK FAN!!!

-Yamato didn't listen to my advice, seriously dude your either going to break your neck or end up severely concussed, just Stop doing the reverse head butt!!!

-Hama is love Hama is life

Oh yeah Gurentai's back together.

Match Grade: C, fun six man, nothing special, plus the story line sucked.

Match 3: Andy Wu & El Hijo del Pantera vs KAZMA SAKAMOTO & Koji Doi

This match was better than it deserved to be, which was mostly because of Wu & Pantera. Which brings me to my next point why the FUCK, would you break Wu & Pantera up these two were money, but I guess if there going to actually do something with these two now, then all's well that ends well. Pantera beats down Wu and joins Desperado. This leads straight into the next match.
Match Grade: C

Match 4: Yasufumi Nakanoue, Yuske Kodama, & Daiki Inaba vs Great Muta, Masayuki Kono, & Tajiri

You can see this match in the video above. The rookies should a lot of heart in this match. You also had a lot of cool mist spots by Muta & Tajiri, Inaba over comes and gets the win for team rookie.

Match Grade: B-, I felt this was a really cool match up and put over the young guys, in particular Inaba, in a big big way.

Match 5: Ikemen Samurai (Masakatsu Funaki & Jiro "Ikemen" Kuroshio) vs New Wild Order (Manabu Soya & Akira)

This match started out slow & at times dragged a bit, but got better towards the end of it.

Match grade: C+, I'd like to see more out of Ikemen & Funaki, they're a really good odd couple type team.

Match 6: KAI vs Masato Tanaka

KAI continues on his quest for redemption as he faces the final stepping stone on his path to greatness, Masato Tanaka. KAI has been chasing Tanaka for quite some time now, but every time he faces him he comes up short. This match was just alright, I think had they gotten more time it would of been better that said for what it was it was alright. KAI wins with the splash plancha.

Match Grade: C+

Main Event Tag Title Match: Team 246(c) vs TOO SHARP (Minoru Tanaka & Seiki Yoshioka)

Too Sharp has had some really impressive showings recently & 246 is one of the most underrated teams in Japan today, so you know this was going to be good. The match starts out slow but got better as it went on. One major critique I have is that the finishing sequence got a little to heavy handed and drag the match down a bit because of it. That being said this was a damn good match and I hope these two teams face off again in the near future. 246 wins following an air raid crash from Hayashi.

Match Grade: B

Final Thoughts: This was an improvement from the last show, which isn't saying much but it's the truth. Not a must see show by any means but still worth watching if you have the time.

Final Show Grade: C

Well that's all for now boys and girls, until next time, stay classy.

Glad to hear the show was at least an improvement over the last. They made the right call and which match should close the show. Thanks for the review!

  2. To say that WRESTLE-1's Tag Team Division is on the rise would be an understatement. Fingers and toes crossed that we get to see even more duos in the scene to even blaze up the competition and push Team 246 to their limits. Speaking of divisions, here's hoping that the recent STARDOM controversy won't be too much of a factor to dissuade Mutoh from ever establishing a Joshi Division in addition to its developing Cruiserweight class. And as for the latter, my money is on this man to be the inaugural champ...

  3. I definitely think he's got a shot, I also think they should use it as a launch pad for Andy Wu

  4. also I do hope they try some sort of Joshi division and Mutoh is no Stranger to controversy so I don't think that would scare him too much
