Warning this article obviously contains spoilers, so if you don't want to know what happened then don't read.
It goes without saying that since it's inception Wrestle-1 has been about two men and establishing them as the stars of tomorrow, 1 was KAI and the other was Seiya Sanada. The Jump from All Japan was a risky move for both men, as they we're both well on their way to becoming main eventers. It could probably even be argued that if they were still there that they'd be in the position that Doering and Shiozaki were in this year. But that's besides the point, today I am going to raise a few points as to not only why it was right for KAI to win before Sanada, but why it needed to happen the way it did.
Reason 1: This probably the most obvious and self explanatory reason among the group, KAI has been the guy carrying the load for Wrestle-1 since its inception, if anyone was going to get the Mutoh rub it needed to be him. Secondly we don't know when Sanada will be back full time, at the moment he really seems to be enjoying himself in TNA, I'm sure Wrestle-1 is still a priority for him but at the moment it's not the main priority.
Reason 2: It makes for a better story. When Sanada does come back he's likely to be injected straight into the company's main event scene, to me there is no better story line then having KAI be the guy who has it all but is still jealous of the attention his younger counterpart receives. Heck I'd even have them work together at first, with KAI becoming progressively more and more jealous as Sanada starts to erase all of his accomplishments, before completely snapping when Sanada surpasses him. Just Imagine this scene for a second Sanada comes back and beats Tanaka on his first, finally overcomes Mutoh in both forms. KAI who is jealous of what Sanada has accomplished in such a small amount of time loses the title to Funaki, then loses a #1 contenders match to Sanada. Before finally there is a big Wrestle-1 vs Desperado showdown where everthing is on the line, Sanada gets the win for team wrestle-1, everyone is happy, then just as everyone is leaving the ring and is in the back, KAI who is seemingly putting over on Sanada snaps and turns heel. The shock would be huge and it would set up an eventual mega main event between the two.
Reason 3: He's the Kawada to Sanada's Misawa, let him enjoy this moment for now because unless something serious happen the Ace of Wrestle-1 is Sanada's job to lose.

ReplyDeleteJust so long as they never put the belt on Kono, I'm happy
ReplyDeleteCall me pleased that Muta has finally stepped aside and trusted the title to someone who can carry it with dignity like he could.
