5. Chris Sabin
At the very least you can his reign wasn't that long and had a decent story behind it. So what's the problem you ask? Simple, Sabin sucks as a babyface and to make matters worse he was made to look like a complete joke in the weeks leading up to his victory. Not to mention that his match against Bully Ray completely blew. But again it's saving grace was that it was short.
4.Magnus
The most recent entry on our list, Magnus' reign was simply put just sad. Let me put this way Magnus is the closest thing TNA has had to a complete package in a long while. Decent in the ring, decent on the mic, has a fair amount of charisma, looks great, handles media interviews well and so forth and so on. The problem? TNA decided to take the first British world champion of an American Major in 108 years and turn him heel. This of course was made worse by that fact that he was booked to look like a complete and utter bitch throughout his entire reign. And why you may ask because TNA thought it would be a great idea to get the U.K. crowd to chant "Paper Champion". Look I'm not saying that TNA was wrong for turning Magnus heel, but the timing and handling of it couldn't of been any worse. For all intensive purposes Magnus was the "Paper Champion" the sad part is his reign could of recoverd, but instead he was pimped out to career comedy jobber Eric Young and is now playing second fiddle to Bram *sigh*. Maybe someday TNA will fully make do on the promise of Magnus until then we must remember the horror that was the reign of Magnus.
3. Yoshinari Ogawa & Ryota Hama
I like these two so I am going to make this short. They should of never been world champions ever, under any circumstances, as much as I like these two no JUST NO!!!!
2. The Miz
THIS WAS A JOKE!!!!! Yeah if you want to know the definition of a waste of time look up Miz's 2011 title reign. The guy was basically canon fodder for the Rock and Cena feud and his best title matches were against a 62 year old Jerry Lawler. This was the worst kind of bad, mediocre. But it's not all bad the guy at least gets to go home Maryse.
You may asking yourself what could possibly be worse than what's been listed above. But believe there is one, as a matter of fact it was the first example I thought of when forming this list.
1. The New Generation Reigns, Pro Wrestling Noah
The reigns of Rikio, Marufuji, Morishima(his first one anyway), and Go Shiozaki will forever be looked at as one of the company's, many, many nails in it's death bed. You want to know why Noah's in the shape it's in look no further than it's handling of it's next generation. While I will never go as far to say that had they built up their stars better Misawa would still be here with us today. Or even that the Yakuza scandal wouldn't of had as great impact, but it certainly does make one wonder doesn't it?
Well that's it for today boys and girls, let this list be a cautionary tale to all aspiring bookers and promoters out there, always think about your future and how your moves today could have implications on your tomorrow. (Also props to me for creating a worst world champions list without a single mention a certain hollywood actor once.)

I had a strong feeling NOAH was gonna be on the list, just didn't expect them to make it to numero uno.
ReplyDeleteyeah, it is what it is. As much as I don't like the reigns mentioned before it, all the other companies have pretty much remained the same after they occurred. Noah has gone down hill big time and one of the biggest reasons is there lack of New stars.
